Hey everyone! Long time since our last blog entry.... oops. Apologies for the lapse in blogging. We've been busy with new happenings! Back in the end of 2015, we all met for a weekend songwriting retreat and came up with some new musical ideas to share with you all. Then, one of our founding members, Dave Schwab- our bassist, who has been one of the mainstays of the GF "sound"- informed us that he would be leaving our band in the spring of 2016. Dave had some demands on his time that led to his decision to disconnect from GF. Although we all understood completely, it was going to be tough after six years together! This forced us to do some re-configuring of the band. In March of 2016, Doug Denton (our longtime drummer) has moved over to bass, and we are welcoming a great new drummer, Terry Brick (from Kalispell, most recently from the Scott Free band), into the Gladys Friday family. We have been practicing with Terry, who brings many years of talent and performance experience with him to our group. With this change comes a new set of musical dynamics for our band, and that- along with a bunch of new songs- will mean that we will have a somewhat different sound and feel than what you've become accustomed to. We hope "GF2" will be as much fun for you all as it will surely be for us. Change is inevitable, and we are committed to moving forward with our new sound, bringing people together to dance and have fun like we have for the past 6 years. Some big shows on the horizon... check our schedule page for details. See you out there, friends!
