WOO HOO! Gladys Friday is ready to get back to making music again in western Montana! Kelley's beautiful new baby, Stella June, came into the world on April 20! Congrats to Mama Kelley and Daddy Jay. She's a beauty. Also, Lil' Cooper Rye arrived on March 18... Two new members of the Gladys Friday family.

We will be having our very first gig in about 3 months when we play for Salish Kootenai College's Annual Spring Fling on Wednesday May 23rd from 12:00 noon to 1:30. It's kinda short, so get there in time to dance on the grass in the sunshine! We have been learning some new songs and even writing some new original tunes crafted just for the Gladys sound. Can't wait to get back at it.

Our first regular public club gig will be on June 16th at the Sportspage Lounge in Polson at 9:00 pm. This will be our "Welcome Back, Gladys!" event and we hope you will all come out and dance the night away. We are all excited to pick up our instruments and make music together again. Our summer is filling up with bookings, and this year we have quite a few weddings and private events, but slightly fewer public shows... so come out and catch us when you can. We would LOVE to see you!

Happy New Year and greetings to all of you! Here's hoping that 2012 is an awesome year filled with hope, music, new life, and peace. It will be an eventful year for sure, as spring will usher in the arrival of Kelley's first child (a girl) in mid-April, and Doug R.'s first grandchild (a boy). So at least 2 new members of the GF fan base in 2012. Due to these stork visitations, our full band will not be performing during part of the spring season (might do a few acoustic shows), from about mid-March to mid-May... but we plan on coming back full strength after that! Another piece of news is that we are scheduled to do a recording session on Feb. 4th at a studio in Helena! This is primarily a demo CD for promotional purposes, but you never know. Had a great time at Swanee's anad the Spage during the holiday season... thanks to all of you for coming out and supporting us. We love our fans and friends and wish you a great start to the new year!

Wow, what a great time at the 'Page for the annual Halloween Dace / Costume Party! The placed was PACKED with amazing costumes, folks having fun and lots of good music.

In other news, GF will be participating in a benefit for Owen Schwab (our bass player Dave's son), who has been diagnosed with a form of brain cancer. Owen is a phenomenal musician and an all-around great guy. The Schwab family could really use some help with medical expenses. We will be hosting a donated show at Swanee's on November 26th. Please consider coming out and supporting this benefit. Also be on the lookout for another event for Owen, a multi-band concert / dance and fundraiser on December 3rd at the Polson VFW. This event will feature 3 or more bands, including an Xtra Sauce reunion, Skeeterhawk, Gladys Friday, and possibly others. Stay tuned to this site for updates. If you would like to make a donation or get more info, contact Dave Schwab at (406)261-7351. Thanks good people! Hope to see you soon...

Greetings friends and fans... Wow, it's been a busy few days! We had a bit of a break the 2nd half of the summer due to band members' family vacations and travel plans, so we took a break from gigging in August and the first half of September. But now we are back at it in a big way! Played at the Stone of Accord in Missoula on the 15th... thanks to Jessica and the gang there for the warm welcome and kind words. The restaurant was rockin'! Seems like they'd like us back there in the future sometime. Swanee's was fun on the 16th also. Lots of good vibes and dancing! Getting ready for the Jeanette Rankin Peace party on Sunday. It'll be fun to play at Caras Park and help support the work they do at the Center. We will have a special guest musician that day, too... You'll just have to show up and see who the mystery player is! Hope to see everyone at the Idle Spur in Dayton on October 15th at 9 pm. Enjoy this beautiful Montana fall weather!

August 5, 2011

Hi there friends and fans... Gladys is on vacation! Several band members are traveling with their loved ones at the moment, so we are taking a brief break in performing. Our next show will be at the Idle Spur in Dayton, MT on August 20th. Be sure to stop on by and shake that thang.... We are now featured on MontanaBands.com.... if you like our stuff, please consider visiting, then scrolling down and leaving a review at: www.montanabands.com/gladys-friday/ .... Another piece of news is that we are playing at Caras Park in Missoula, under the big tent on September 18th from 4:00-5:00 pm for the Jeanette Rankin Peace Center's Annual "Peace Party" event. Only an hour, so be sure to get there in time. We are planning a special setlist appropriate for the event, with a few surprises. Other gigs in the works right now... should be a fun summer-fall season. Thanks for all your support, and see you soon!

Hi good people! Summer has been a blast so far. We have been able to play some fun and different gigs lately... Had a great time at the 44 Bar / Outwest Grille in Charlo-St. Ign.... We played on an old flatbed trailer with some plywood on it... made for a great stage on a beautiful evening. Thanks to Tami and others at the 44 for having us. 101 Main was a great gig, also... lots of great folks in the audience, including special guest visitor Jason Derlatka. Jason is a Missoula guy who now lives and works in L.A. He is the musical director for the TV show, "House". He got up and did several songs with us that night.... what a talented guy. We have a few weddings this month... should be fun... and will be back at Swanee's on July 22... which happens to be Kelley's birthday. Hope you can come out and celebrate her special day with us. Enjoy the Montana sunshine, and see you soon!

We had a full house and a lot of fun at Swanee's last night.  It was great that we had such an awesome night while Kelley's parents (who drove all the way out here from Michigan) were here. A couple of overly energetic customers had a little TOO much fun, but we kept the train rolling through it all just fine. OK, so I have a question for y'all.  it occurred to Dave and I, as we were talking recently... we do so many different genres in this band. We'll play a reggae tune, followed by a White Stripes song, then Buffalo Springfield, then a bluegrass tune, followed by  a blues standard, and then Johnny Cash, then Aretha. So. Is this a good thing? Or is it just damn confusing? Our gut feeling is that it's fun to mix it up... folks usually like a variety of music (as do we), but... is it weird? Just wondering. If you are inclined to weigh in on this profound question, feel free to click on the "Add Comment" link below and leave your opinion. Anyhoo... thanks to all our friends and fans for coming out last night... hope you had as much fun as we did!
