Holy Moley... it's been a long time since posting on this blog. All is well with Gladys and the gang! We had a blast playing three shows back in June at the Garden Bar in Bigfork. Wonderful people to work with, great crowds, great dancers despite some questionable weather. We have a few public shows coming up, Out to Lunch in Missoula and then our old favorite hangout, Swanee's in Polson. Don't have that many public shows booked, as it is wedding and private party season and we have lots going on there, all up and down western MT. We are working on more new songs, and of course are always receptive to ideas, so if there's something you really want us to do, let us know! We are currently in some negotiations with a club in Missoula that we've been anxious to book with; hopefully we can make a show or two happen there in late summer or fall, for all you Missoula folks who have been on us to do more gigs down south. And... of course our big news was that our lead singer, Kelley, got hitched on July 12th, with GF guitarist Doug Ruhman officiating. It was a grand night, with a full moon and perfect Montana summer weather. Thanks for checking in, and we hope to see you soon!!

Greetings friends and fans... it is shaping up to be a wonderful (and HOT) summer season for Gladys Friday. We have quite a busy schedule, both private weddings / parties and club shows. Just wrapped up an amazing wedding at Holland Lake Lodge in the Swan Valley. Had a brief scare as Doug R's recent surgery threatened to throw a curve ball at our wedding show but it all worked out in the end and a great time was had by all. We'd like to extend a nod of gratitude to the Johnson and Nagy families for having us be a part of their beautiful celebration. It was a blast! And thanks to preparing for this event, we've added some great new tunes to our repertoire of songs. KwaTaqNuk Celebrations, Missoula's "Out to Lunch" series, and opening the Flathead Lake Blues Festival are among our summer highlights. We hope to see you soon at one of these events! Check our schedule page for updates. Have a great summer, and don't forget your sunscreen, folks!
Wow, it's been a while since the last blog entry... sorry about that folks. This Friday, Nov. 16th, we will be having our 2nd annual November Birthday Bash at the Idle Spur. We brought a whole truckload of friends in last year for my 50th, and we had so much fun we wanted to (OK I wanted to) do it again. So it should be a fun night. The plan is to dive into some of the Spur's famous chicken at around 7:00, and recuperate in time to play music at 9:00. Come on down to metropolitan Dayton and shake that thang. Next up after that is the Sportspage on Saturday Nov. 24th... (so you can work off all that turkey and gravy on the dance floor). We have a few holiday parties, but afterwards we will be taking a little break for a bit. One of us has some important things to tend to for a while.
Hope to see you soon. Have a glorious holiday season y'all!
Wow! Can't believe the summer is winding down already. Maybe we should do "Smoke On the Water" for our next gig? The perennial late summer fires are burning and our skies are smoky, but we are still playing and having fun. GF will be playing at the Rankin Center's Peace Party on Sunday Sept. 16th under the big tent at Caras Park in downtown Missoula from 5 to 6 pm. We will be doing a number of selected songs that convey the spirit of the Peace Party. Hope to see our friends and fans there. We have a had a busy summer of playing, including numerous weddings... which have all been a blast! From Moonlight Basin and Big Sky to the shores of Flathead Lake, it's been a great summer of music for us. We hope to get some local public gigs booked soon, before the holiday party season kicks in... so check back here soon for udates to our playing schedule. See you soon!
Hi everyone... Gladys Friday is coming to the FLATHEAD! Come see us (and dance in broad daylight) at the Thursday!Fest in downtown Kalispell this Thursday, August 2nd... 5-8 pm... more info on this event is available at http://www.downtownkalispell.com/events/thursdayfest
We will also be at Swanee's in Polson (9 pm) the next night, Aug. 3rd. We play at the Car Show in Polson at Riverside Park on Friday August 10th, and then we have some private gigs later in August. Due to band members' traveling plans, these will be our last shows for a little while. We hope to be back at it in late September when we are all back home. Hope to see you at one of these upcoming shows.
WOO HOO! Gladys Friday is ready to get back to making music again in western Montana! Kelley's beautiful new baby, Stella June, came into the world on April 20! Congrats to Mama Kelley and Daddy Jay. She's a beauty. Also, Lil' Cooper Rye arrived on March 18... Two new members of the Gladys Friday family.
We will be having our very first gig in about 3 months when we play for Salish Kootenai College's Annual Spring Fling on Wednesday May 23rd from 12:00 noon to 1:30. It's kinda short, so get there in time to dance on the grass in the sunshine! We have been learning some new songs and even writing some new original tunes crafted just for the Gladys sound. Can't wait to get back at it.
Our first regular public club gig will be on June 16th at the Sportspage Lounge in Polson at 9:00 pm. This will be our "Welcome Back, Gladys!" event and we hope you will all come out and dance the night away. We are all excited to pick up our instruments and make music together again. Our summer is filling up with bookings, and this year we have quite a few weddings and private events, but slightly fewer public shows... so come out and catch us when you can. We would LOVE to see you!
Happy New Year and greetings to all of you! Here's hoping that 2012 is an awesome year filled with hope, music, new life, and peace. It will be an eventful year for sure, as spring will usher in the arrival of Kelley's first child (a girl) in mid-April, and Doug R.'s first grandchild (a boy). So at least 2 new members of the GF fan base in 2012. Due to these stork visitations, our full band will not be performing during part of the spring season (might do a few acoustic shows), from about mid-March to mid-May... but we plan on coming back full strength after that! Another piece of news is that we are scheduled to do a recording session on Feb. 4th at a studio in Helena! This is primarily a demo CD for promotional purposes, but you never know. Had a great time at Swanee's anad the Spage during the holiday season... thanks to all of you for coming out and supporting us. We love our fans and friends and wish you a great start to the new year!
Wow, what a great time at the 'Page for the annual Halloween Dace / Costume Party! The placed was PACKED with amazing costumes, folks having fun and lots of good music.
In other news, GF will be participating in a benefit for Owen Schwab (our bass player Dave's son), who has been diagnosed with a form of brain cancer. Owen is a phenomenal musician and an all-around great guy. The Schwab family could really use some help with medical expenses. We will be hosting a donated show at Swanee's on November 26th. Please consider coming out and supporting this benefit. Also be on the lookout for another event for Owen, a multi-band concert / dance and fundraiser on December 3rd at the Polson VFW. This event will feature 3 or more bands, including an Xtra Sauce reunion, Skeeterhawk, Gladys Friday, and possibly others. Stay tuned to this site for updates. If you would like to make a donation or get more info, contact Dave Schwab at (406)261-7351. Thanks good people! Hope to see you soon...
Hi Everyone! We are excited about playing for the annual Halloween party at the 'Page this coming Saturday night. It's sure to be a gas! We hope to see all our good friends and fans there. We have been working on more new material, including some classic Halloween tunes that should be a lot of fun. It would be great to see you there!
Had a good time at the Jeanette Rankin Peace Center's Annual Peace Party Fundraiser on Sunday. Thanks for all the great vibes and kind words from the audience... and thanks also to Teri Llovet for sittin' in on short notice!
